My favorite Thai place ever! Service is always fast and friendly, prices are decent and portions are huge! I always have leftovers!

Very nice, very clean and very good Thai food. In my experience most Thai restaurants serve basically the same menu and this place is no exception. So I am basing my five stars on the quality of food, service and the fact that it is one of the cleanest Asian places I have been in to.

It's pricey, but the red curry chicken could very well be the best I've EVER had. It was unbelievably good. The soups we had were decent, although lacking a bit in flavor and it was VERY pricey, but it's worth checking out.

This is going to be my new favorite place. I have been searching for good Pad Thai for YEARS and finally found it, thank to a friend. I nearly licked my plate it was so good. The noodles weren't mush like so many other places and the chicken was tender and fresh. I also ordered the vegetarian egg roll and it was crispy and delicious. Portion size was good for all the people in our party. Service was super friendly and efficient. On my first visit I went with 5 other people and everyone was super happy with their meals. I have since been several times and each visit has been perfect! Sept 2014. I'm back for an update. I am still eating here and loving it, but now they have added a sushi bar and man oh man it is fabulous. Fresher fish I have not tasted! Of course, now I have to make a decision when I sit down, Thai or Sushi, Sushi or Thai. Oh, what the heck, bring me a plate of each!

We have been here several times. The shrimp fried rice-amazing, the red curry chicken-amazing and the pad thai is just ok. Nothing spectacular about the place itself...prices are not mind-blowingly cheap. And I recommend medium spicy as that is pretty spicy, but if you want to light yourself up, get hot.

This is my go-to Thai place for three primary reasons: 1. Great taste 2. Huge portions and 3. Reasonable prices. Tampa Bay actually has a ton of Thai restaurants, but Amarit hasn't shrunk their portions like others who have faced similar rising food costs. Amarit actually gives you enough for two meals, and we reguarly enjoy leftovers for lunch the next day. Pad Thai is some of the best around, and the Panag Curry is also delicious. Decor inside is a little strange, and they tend to keep the thermostat on the warm side during the summer. Otherwise this should be at the top of your list in North Pinellas.

We eat Thai often where ever we are, so.... we think we may know how to identify good Thai food. Atmosphere 75 (upscale for the typical Thai restaurant ) Service 80 (Always on) Food 80 (Very crediable) Value 70 ( Expensive for Thai restaurants) There are better local values with the food being just as good but less expensive. We like the interior setting - it is a finished restaurant.

Friendly service! Love the waiters and atmosphere, the food was very tasty. I had the chicken in peanut sauce with jasmine rice. Very delicious for a small place in redneckville. My boyfriend had chicken pad Thai and the spice was delicious. Prices are fair, most Thai places in Tampa are similar range. I'm going back again soon.

Good service. The food is average. Nothing really stands out about this place. But nothing to complain about either. ***Come during the lunch hours because your meal will be HALF the price of a dinner meal, but you also get soup and spring rolls with your lunch.

My wife's favorite place, she drags me here a lot. I usually enjoy my "usual" meat combo with rice, medium spice. One thing that I have found that Thai food is so consistent no matter where we are. But our last visit to this restaurant seemed to restate that for me. Going back tomorrow to meet a potential client for lunch and will try it again. Hope it was just an off night. Their food has always been good.

Good: I got to give it a 4 becos of the taste of the food .. I have been there atleast 15-20 times so for and it has been delicious everytime. The service is very good & dedicated too. Bad: There is a 20% gratuity charged even if you are just 2 diners.. I did not like that.. I normally tip gracefully, but when i realised that am being charged a gratuity of 20% already I didn't tip much the second time. Don;'t understand why they do that. To Summarize: Taste - 9/100 Ambience - 8/10 Service - 9/10 Price - 5/10 (Price on the menu is OK .. 20% Gratuity for even just 2 diners is big Joke)

I've been to Amarit Thai for lunch on several occasions. The location is great because of its easy access from Palm Harbor, Oldsmar, Safety Harbor or Trinity. That's how I ended up going there the first couple times, needing a central place to meet someone. After tasting their chicken curry with peanut sauce I started to go back just for that. I can't speak to how authentic this thai food is since I'm not a huge connoisseur. But I do recognize something that tastes good and is filled with chicken, not cheap fillers like some places serve. I can speak to the service, prices and portions which have all been great on every visit. I've only been there for lunch and they seem to understand the time constraint most people are under, and yet they don't rush you - just the right level of attentiveness. Oh, do pay attention to when they're open, though, because I went there for a late lunch/early dinner once and there was a window of time they were closed. The dining room is one large room with booths around the walls. An interior table may not be the best setting if you're looking for an intimate dinner, but the decor is dark and warm and I have found the restaurant (and restrooms) to be clean on each visit. ~Colette & Jim roamingtogether.com

Their red curry with chicken is the best I've ever had! I like that the sauce isn't too thin and tastes great!

Nothing special - and some items were pretty "eh".....get Thai somewhere else. There are better spots in Palm Harbor area for sure.

When this place first opened (they took over from a Chinese restaurant around 2000) they were really good and offered reasonable prices, including a great lunch combination for around $7. Since then, the prices have only become more expensive while the food quality has decreased. The Thai iced tea is still the best I have ever had in any Thai restaurant and they also have good curries and terrific soups. But their tofu has been very soggy, not to mention that they give you literally four pieces in a dinner plate for around $12. Sometimes the food has come out cold too and the last two times I went there, a friend ordered chicken with peanut sauce and it was as if someone had spread Peter Pan over a rubber chicken. The staff is very courteous and they will try to fix any mistake. However, I wish this place would have continued to serve quality food at good prices. You can tell they have everything made and heated instead of cooking to order, and that is never a good sign. Especially in a tiny restaurant that has the potential to become a neighborhood favorite. But it isn't bad. It just isn't what it could be.

We have been looking for great Thai in Tampa and have been disappointed. We decided to try Amrit Thai based on the reviews and we were very pleased. The restaurant was packed, we had 2 servers helping us at all times and the food was delicious. We will definitley be back.

We went to eat lunch here while on a visit with my husband's elderly grandparents. We are from NYC, and we did not expect Thai food in Florida to be what we are used to, but we were pleasantly surprised. The service we experienced was incredibly quick, and they were patient and kind with the grandparents as they slowly made their selections. The lunch special does come with two small appetizers, and the entree portion was very large. Not having been to any other Thai restaurant in the area, I don't know how it compares, but our food was excellent and a good value., and it pleased us 20-somethings as much as it did the 90 year olds!

  • J B.

Food average. Service ok. They added 20 percent tip without my approval and it included the tax so the tip would be higher. That subtle rip-off pisses me off. I wont go back.

I thought the food was great, the atmosphere was nice, kids made such a mess but they weren't upset about it. Expensive I thought.

Amarit Thai's Thom Kha soup is one of the better Thom Kha's i've had in Tampa Bay. The Massuman curry (shrimp and chicken) with potatoes was dellicious and the Phad Thai was filling. The prices were rather steep for Thai food and they could probably use less sugar in their dishes. But overall, a good dining experience (i'd give it 3.5 stars, but Yelp only allows whole numbers).

Stopped by and noticed the "Thai Restaurant" sign glowing from the back of the Boot Ranch plaza and decided to stop and give it a try. Walking into the place, I felt like I was walking into a restaurant in "The Sims" from the wallpaper choice and angled walls. You walk in and you notice some nice thai decorative pieces and red/gold wallpaper which ups the feel of the place, but then you have things that bring it down --- like the bad chandeliers, cheap 80's restaurant chairs and the apparent notice that its just one big room. its like an attempt to be intimate w/ the dark colors and dim lighting, but not quite. So how about the most important parts? The food: There's lots to choose from and all seem pretty good - if not just a tad pricey for the area. What I ordered: thai iced tea was really good, no funky after taste and not too sickeningly sweet. Ordered the Chicken Massumen Curry for $10 and it was really tasty, but the sauce was a bit too runny for my tastes. Service was really good tho --attentive, but not overbearing, and waitress had a cute accent.

  • Nina T.

The food here is just ok, 2 stars for food, 3 for the service since the servers were nice and attentive. We ordered the special, which was fried sea bass, pad thai, and the three sum from sushi bar. For the price of the sea bass ($45) and being that it was their chef's special, we expected something fresh, but our fish was most def frozen so that was disappointing. Flavor of pad thai was good but the noodles were mushy and broken. Same goes for the rice in our three sum roll, mushy as well. Probably won't be back since there's many other good thai restaurants in the area.

We love this place. Its always a treat eating here. The Tom Kha soup is very special and have it often. i really like the crispy duck panang and the pad thai is also very well prepared. You won't go wrong here.

I have eaten lunch here 3 times and the food, service and prices were exceptional, however on my first time eating dinner here none of these qualities existed. The 3 of us decided to get 3 dishes and eat family style. The first dish was a papaya salad, which we ordered medium hot. The salad was so hot that 2 of us couldn't eat it. I didn't see any papaya. When we complained, the staff just scoffed at us and said that the salad was "Thai medium hot". We eat Thai food a lot and know that this is not the case. The next 2 courses were delicious, although expensive. The Pad Thai was perfect. The basil chicken dish had a wonderful delicate chicken, although the kitchen staff left out all hints of hot due to our prior complaint. The side dish of rice was not adequate for three people. All in all this was a bad experience and we will never go back there again.

  • Minna S.

Well I gave this place a second chance (something I usually don't do). I ordered their chicken pad Thai and all I can really say about it is that it was ok. I felt as if they could have put a tad bit more sauce and I felt as if the chicken was dried out. Although the chicken did not have a distinct taste to it this time, it was completely dried. I really wanted to like this place but I just don't think I can. Pad Thai is one of the most popular Thai dishes that people order, and if they can't make it right then I would rather go somewhere that can. I just can't recommend this place to others.

I love the red curry. It's probably my favorite around here. The first time I was here I met a gentleman that eats dinner here every night. He suggested I try the Tom yum soup. It was pretty good. I had never had it before. The owner is nice and she keeps her restaurant very clean.

After spending the entire week battling a serious sushi craving, I could not ignore it any longer. Around 4:30 PM on a Saturday, I finally caved in and went on a hunt for the best "new to me" sushi place I could find. Many thai restaurants are closed at this time of day for their mid afternoon break, but lucky for me Amarit had just reopened at exactly 4:30, so I met up with a friend and we headed in for what was sure to be a fabulous sushi adventure. Upon entering, we were seated right away. The environment here is decorated in very ornate and traditional thai decor and it is a bit dark in here, however it creates a relaxing and peaceful ambience. The server came over to greet us and he dropped the sushi menu on our table --- the menu of heavenly, heavenly goodness. We were in a bit of a rush to order, so I picked the Mexican roll and my friend chose the JB (or was it "JD"?) Tempura Roll. They were prepared quickly and we couldn't wait even 1 minute to dive in. We both tried our own and then swapped and tried the others. Both were fantastic. The mexican roll was fresh and light with great flavor. The JB was fried, with a sweet sauce on top and was tasty down to the last piece of rice left on the plate. Believe me, there were NO leftovers. Overall we had a great experience here. The prices were on par, service was quick and friendly and they also have a full menu of thai entrees which I plan to return and try soon.

Definitely a great place for some take out Thai. Love their chicken pad Thai and curry options. The owner/hostess are very friendly and welcoming. The portions are we large so we always have lunch covered the next day!

I love you, Amarit Thai!! I found this place to be deceiving because it is tucked in Boot Ranch Plaza next to Publix, so I figured how good could it possibly be? Amazing! From the food to the service, everything I have experienced have been excellent. I first discovered Amarit when I was craving some Mango Sticky Rice. I googled places in Palm Harbor and Amarit kept on coming up with consistently excellent reviews, so I decided to give it a try. I called to place a to-go order for my favorite dessert and the gentleman I spoke with was not only accommodating, but incredibly nice. My husband and I have been back numerous times, and the food is always excellent, along with the service - so friendly and food is so yummy!!! My favorite is the Pad Thai and my husband loves the Green Veggie Curry. Prices are reasonable and portions are large! Being relatively new to the Tampa Bay Area, this is the Thai restaurant I compare other Thai restaurants too. Oh, and don't forget the Thai Ice Tea - yummy, yum, yum! If it's in season, get the Mango Sticky Rice because you won't be disappointed. Actually, in my opinion, I don't think you will be disappointed in Amarit at all. Go, now!

I have eaten at a lot of Thai restaurants in my life time and this place is one of the best! Try the crispy duck Panang style. I also adore the Tom Kha Gai Soup! High quality ingredients & everything is very fresh! The service is fabulous. Do yourself a favor and get here! A++

I thank my ex boss for taking me to Amarit each time I eat there, it's so good! My whole office would order lunch and we would take turns on who would make the 15 minute trip there to get it and it's totally worth it. Lunch and dinner are a little different, and I have to say the lunch is the best value because you get the AMAZING veggie egg rolls and soup with it. At dinner everything is separate. When I say the veggie egg rolls are amazing, I truly mean it. I could make a meal of just those. I crave them! They are not your traditional egg rolls either, which is probably why they are awesome. Trust me, just order them if it's dinner time, they come with lunch. The Pad Thai is wonderful, I always get chicken and not one loving spicy, I get the mild. Brian once ordered the hot and even for him it was REALLY hot, so be warned, he now will order the medium. Much to our surprise and pleasure, tonight when we walked in we saw that they now have a sushi bar. We ordered the Monster Roll and holy crap, it's HUGE. In order for me to get the whole piece in my mouth, I had to take the toppings off, put the sushi on its side and then put the toppings back on the "new" top. Don't order it if you're on a date with someone you're not comfortable with!!! It was so good though, and why were we surprised?? Everything else there is a winner! We drive all the way from Carrollwood to eat there and don't mind one little bit!!!! GO THERE!

I picked this one randomly, and to sum up all this : The staffs of this place are way too horrible. - We came around 9:00 pm and they close at 10. Took a pretty long time to get the foods to our table, but we didn't mind. - About 20 minutes later, they said that they're closing now (9:45pm), and they're rushing us to finish the foods asap. They rudely started taking away everything on the table, including the unfinished foods. - We asked for togo boxes, and they gave us none. (We couldn't start on our desserts since they took away our fork and spoon without giving us the box.) - By 10 they locked the door and asked us to unlock the door to leave. True ! I don't know how they could get up to 4 stars. they just ruined our mood real bad.

Someone had an epiphany to add sushi bar in this Thai restaurant. It is a smart match. The core value of this family-run restaurant has always been its prime quality ingredients and excellent services. Every dish is freshly made with pride and professionalism. I am now hopelessly addicted to Amarit. Even though the price remain high, this newly added alternative keep regular patron like me going back on weekly bases. The sushi bar part is now run by the Shushi chef used to work at Ban Thai at Safety Harbor. His cut of fish is generously thick. It is not a traditional Japanese style that the cut has to be medium size to allow customer to put the whole piece in the mouth and chew it down gracefully. However, as I have soaked myself into the American culture for 1800 days later, Yankee style of hospitality has ensconced within my bias opinions. More is more, as simple as that. Since this epiphany materialized late last year, the restaurant has absorbed more customers. Some stick with the consistent good quality of Thai food and some mix with Thai and Sushi roll. After all, it is a smart match. Support the local business

One of the best places for pad tai and we returned often, but one time my boyfriend and I must have arrived right before they closed before the dinner shift and a gentlemen who has served us before said "you better come in or stay out because we are closing" and he pointed to the hours on the door. I was really offended and we just left. The tai food is great but work on your charisma!! He was just flat out rude

One of my favorite restaurants! Keep thinking I'm going to move out of Florida but don't think I'll find a restaurant I'll love this much again! I've been going here for about 8 years, on the recommendation from my mother who worked nearby at the time. The food is delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. It has more vegetables and sauce than traditional Thai food but the staff will make it more traditionally Thai if you ask. The staff is very friendly and they work very hard. I recommend the Chicken Tom Yum, the Pad Won Sen, the Pad Ke Mao, the Garlic Sauce Sauté, and the Chicken Panang Curry.

We've been enjoying Amarit Thai for years and, frankly, am embarrassed I haven't reviewed them before because we're treated like family whether we're there with a big group or I'm stopping in for a quick carryout. After enjoying the culture and food of Thailand for two years in a former life, I evaluate Thai restaurants here against my former experience. Most Americans won't eat everything available in Thailand nor as hot or garlicy as they spice their food, so don't expect snake or baby birds on the menu, but the rest is very authentic. They will cook and spice to order, but be sure you're prepared for "Thai HOT". We've been through their menu several times, order a variation of Pad Thai virtually every time, love ALL their curries, and are never disappointed with other dishes or specials. The atmosphere elegant and service is personable and attentive.

It was our first time. As a side note, although the rest of the family loves Thai, it's not my thing. That is, until tonight. Incredibly delicious duck, we all loved the dinners. Worth your while.

Always delicious. I could order from here every day. I am one that enjoys things on the spicy side and most other Thai restaurants I go to and ask her to be Thai hot it's still quite mild but when I ask this place for Thai hot I get it hot

Some of, if not the best Thai food in the area. Very easy going wait staff. You can tell they really want you to feel welcomed. Family owned. The crispy duck is one of the best things on the menu. They have great soups. Really, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu.

The food is great no doubt about it ! It was five of us and they automatically added a 20% tip on our check and that included our $30 worth of takeout food that night ! Who does that! When I asked them to at least remove the takeout food from the tipped portion they refused ! Needless to say I will not be back ! It's about the principle if I have good service of course I will tip accordingly but no where on their menu did it state added tip party of 5 + or on take out food! So my advice to you ask before you sit down about tip if you are more than a party of 4!

    (1)
  • Rama A.

WARNING: They charge 20% gratuity(tip) even for party of 2 without notice. We went twice to this restaurant. The 1st time food was good and tasty. The next time it was just OK. The food is little over priced. They add 20% over that without notice. The 1st time I thought it was a mistake. Moreover I would have tipped them 20% bcos the food was good. So, didn't mind. They did the same thing 2nd time when the food was just OK. Wonder y they act like this.

Best Thai food by far in the area. Always delicious. I have been coming here since it opened and the food has been consistently amazing. Not sure why it's rated so low.

Curries are too sweet. They lack good vegetables that are usually so much a part of it . Not at all impressed with the quality of food for the price they charge . Price here is 2-3 dollars more per dish.

For dinner, Amarit is a bit steep in price, but after having been there for lunch now perhaps 6 or 7 times, they have new fans in me and my family. The staff is courteous and neat and what is better, begin to recognize you personally very shortly after you repeat visit, and they begin to anticipate what you want. For instance, a waiter we get frequently now knows to tempt me with a Thai beer I had never previously tried, but immediatey fell in love with. We asked for chopsticks once, and now they show up on our table, even when they don't normally put them out - same thing with the spices tray. I'm a big fan of restaurants that build a relationship with their customers. These guys do this well. Our server flat out tells us, 'No, you probably won't like that.' or 'You'll like this dish better.', or even on a couple occasions 'You had that last time! You should keep trying new things." I've never been disapointed in the quality or portions they serve, I'm not a big fan of taking leftovers, and I find that when I love a dish there, the portion leaves me full, but leaves an empty plate that I've scraped clean. Only once have I ordered something and found it not to my liking, the crab fried rice. Impeccably prepared, plated very well - I just found that crab and fried rice weren't a match for me. Meanwhile, I had the crispy duck and I swear, if you had some of that in your pocket, you might get attacked - its that good. I had a number of the sautes, always exceptional, and of course the Tom Kha soup I'd consider bathing in. Price is something I believe you have to be really objective about, as is decor. Some people find the decor there to be a bit cartoonish, personally, having been in Thai restaurants all over the country, if anything I find the decor to be lavish, rich and luxurious - it almost feels to fancy to show up in wearing shorts. But you'd never know that from the friendly smile and prompt service you get there. And while I can probably get duck cheaper somewhere else, while I wouldnt maybe go there for dinner given the price, I can tell you that cheaper is definitely not better and all things considered, Amarit is a great lunchtime value, excellent food and a staff that clearly cares about their restaurant and its customers. Dig in!

This is a good place for a date. It's always quiet and the service isn't bad. The food is really good and a big portion. The atmosphere is nice as well. It might help if there were a couple pictures in the menu because some people might not know what some of the dishes really look like.

I give this thai restaurant 5 stars because this is thee best I've had in the Tampa Bay Area. For dinner, I had sushi vegetable roll as an appetizer, 2 glasses of plum wine, salmon w/vegetables for the main course and black sticky rice with coconut sauce for dessert. Everything was prepared fresh, cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. I loved the presentation of the sushi-the chef made it look like a dragon. The variety of sushi selections to choose from on the menu was huge. A few of the titles made me laugh-'sexy man roll' and 'sexy woman roll' made w/sexy man sauce and 'orgasmic roll'-Hahaha! Will be back again.

a nice atmosphere, wonderful, friendly service and tasty tasty food! (My 6 year old commented that a candle in the center of the table would make it perfect! lol)
